Energy for the Finns
EPV Energy secures energy for its shareholders by being involved in significant nationwide energy enterprises and by owning shares in foreign power plants.
The nuclear energy programme
As far as nuclear energy generation is concerned, EPV relies on Industrial Power Corporation (TVO), which for over three decades has supplied the company with electricity from the safest and most effective nuclear power plants worldwide. EPV has a 10 percent interest in the Olkiluoto 3 enterprise, which will be completed in 2013. In addition, the company pursues a considerable interest in the Olkiluoto 4 enterprise currently under planning.
To EPV nuclear energy is a safe, reliable and inexpensive way to generate emission-free energy for Finnish people.
EPV Energy is responsible for most of the energy generation through its associated companies. Pohjolan Voima Oy (PVO) generates and acquires electricity via its own power plants and associated power plants throughout Finland. EPV is the company’s fourth largest owner with a share of 7.2 percent.
Industrial Power Corporation (TVO) generates electricity at its nuclear power plants in Olkiluoto, Eurajoki, and at the Meri-Pori coal-fired condensing power plant in Tahkoluoto, Pori. EPV’s interest in Industrial Power Corporation is 6.6 percent. In addition, EPV owns part of the company through Pohjolan Voima Oy.
EPV Energy owns Norwegian hydropower, for the purpose of which Rapid Power Oy was founded in 2004. EPV’s interest in the company is 50 percent.
