EPV Heat

EPV Heat includes thermal power generation, with thermal energy and co-produced electricity being the main products. EPV Heat’s most significant generation company is the associated company Vaskiludon Voima Oy, which owns the district heating and co-production electricity power plants in Vaasa and Seinäjoki. Vaskiluodon Voima generates approximately 90 percent of the district heating required by the cities of Vaasa and Seinäjoki.

EPV’s subsidiary Tornion Voima’s power plant is a model example of efficient energy generation based on utilization of Finnish energy. In addition to the combined energy generation, the power plant also generates process heat for the Outokumpu steel works and district heating for the city of Tornio.

In the combined generation of heat and electricity, EPV primarily aims at utilizing Finnish forest-based energy and bioenergy crops. The utilization of local fuels has a significant, positive effect on the region’s economy and employment.

The aim of EPV Bioturve Oy, operating in the Seinäjoki and Vaasa regions, is to become a regionally significant producer of domestic fuel. The company specializes in producing and acquiring energy peat, and on acquiring woodbased fuels.
