The Seinäjoki power plant received an excellent audit result

EPV’s subsidiary Seinäjoen Voima received positive feedback in the audit, particularly for its investments in renewable energy production and the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions, the overall cleanliness of the facility areas, and staff training. The audit results will help further develop the practical operations of energy production facilities as well as workplace and environmental safety.

Seinäjoen Voima received good ratings from the external audit conducted from October 23 to 25. The focus areas of the audit were “Connecting Seinäjoki district heating plants to management systems” and “Continuous improvement during the certification period.” The audit was conducted by DNV.

For the first time, the external audit covered not only the Seinäjoki power plant but also the Kapernaum, Hanneksenrinne, and Puhdistamonkatu heating plants. These heating plants were integrated into Seinäjoen Voima’s management system certification for ISO 14001 and the energy efficiency system ETJ+ through an expanded audit.

Seinäjoen Voima scored 4 out of 5 in both focus areas. In the “Continuous improvement during the certification period” focus area, several positive observations were recorded related to increasing renewable energy production, reducing emissions generated during production, overall cleanliness, and the quality of documentation at Seinäjoen Voima’s energy production facilities.

In the “Connecting Seinäjoki district heating plants to management systems” focus area, positive observations were noted regarding staff training in environmental and energy efficiency, as well as the operational level of the district heating plants from the perspective of environmental system requirements.

“The results achieved from the external audit are a great testament to the investments made in recent years towards zero-emission energy production and increasing these shares at Seinäjoen Voima’s energy production facilities. We were particularly pleased with the positive observations that highlighted the well-executed training of staff in the environmental and energy efficiency system, as well as the cleanliness of all our facilities,” says Pasi Salo, Managing Director of Seinäjoen Voima.

“We place a high value on training our staff. While we continue our quality training efforts, we will also ensure that we address the areas for improvement highlighted in the assessment. We will maintain and develop our operations in a direction where an even larger share of the energy we produce is renewable,” Salo adds.
