We participate in Agenda-2030

EPV contributes to the promotion of several UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The 2030 Agenda sets out 17 goals, nine of which we are actively working towards.

Main goals

Affordable and clean energy

Goal 7: Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all

We produce competitive and clean energy for society and owners. Our goal is to produce 100% emission-free electricity by 2030. New electricity is the most important enabler on the way to a new emission-free world. This idea is highlighted in our New Electricity Revolution® strategy.

At the heart of our strategy is emission-free energy production, towards which we are moving rapidly. Our investments allows development for our forms of electricity production, their efficiency, electricity storage and the transition away from fossil fuels. We are one of the pioneers in the domestic market.

Industry, innovation and infrastructure

Goal 9: Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation

EPV builds and develops energy solutions that are important and sustainable for society. The energy production enable responsible energy use and sustainable industry.

We encourage our staff and partners to innovate and propose new solutions for the energy market of the future.

Climate action

Goal 13: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts

Our main objective is to enable a green transition in the energy sector. With emission-free energy production and continuous innovation, we reduce the impact of our operations on the climate.

We produce environmentally friendly electricity for industry and shareholders while ensuring safe and reliable electricity production for the future.

Gender equality

Goal 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls

EPV strives to ensure a safe, respectful and fair work community for all. We offer equal opportunities to our employees regardless of age, gender, language, religion, health, nationality, background, sexual orientation or other reasons.

We expect everyone to follow our Code of Conduct and to act in a non-discriminatory manner towards both staff and partners. We are committed to promoting diversity in all our activities.

Decent work and economic growth

Goal 8: Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all

We contribute to responsible business in our supply chains and to economic productivity through innovation, collaboration and reliable production. With good maintenance and reforms, we maintain resource efficiency and promote circular economy.

As a responsible employer, we strive to provide our staff with decent work and opportunities to develop in order to ensure continuous employment. We also guarantee a safe working environment for all our employees. We take steps to eliminate forced labour, modern slavery and human trafficking and demand the same of our partners.

Responsible consumption and production

Goal 12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns

We invest in sustainable operations, for example, by reducing the amount of waste, recycling and treating waste safely. We strive to ensure the safe handling of chemicals throughout their life cycle and to prevent them from entering the environment.

We promote responsible procurement practices in our operations. We encourage our partners to adopt responsible operations and sustainable consumption in accordance with our operating principles..

Life on land

Goal 15: Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss

We want our operations to be as environmentally friendly as possible – efforts are made to minimize the impact on biodiversity, landscape and land use. We assess the environmental impact of our operations carefully and in accordance with the law.

We aim to restore areas of land where we do not have an active presence in order to support biodiversity. In our environmental work, we take into account endangered species and the protection of their areas. Through the Biodiversity Programme, continuous work to strengthen biodiversity is ensured. We also aim to reduce the impact of invasive species on terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems and to keep the number of species under control.

Peace, justice and strong institutions

Goal 16: Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels

We combat the grey economy and, in accordance with the operating principle, refuse money laundering and corruption in our operations. EPV makes use of methods to combat potential unprincipled behaviour.

We continuously promote responsible and sustainable operating practices and expect both staff and partners to act in accordance with the operating principle.

Partnerships for the goals

Goal 17: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development

Our diverse production palette is made possible by an extensive network and stakeholder cooperation. Interaction with various stakeholders is a cornerstone of our business, and its importance is emphasised as operations expand and innovations are implemented.

Good interaction with landowners, suppliers and authorities is very important to us. Together with partners, we can share information about the importance of sustainable development and its results. We encourage our network to promote technology that is important for sustainable development, as well as good partnerships between the public and private sectors.
