The 43‑megawatt gas-engine power plant operated by Tornion Voima, a subsidiary of EPV Energy, brings rapidly startable and highly flexible generation capacity to the electricity system. Finland’s first modern engine power plant strengthens security of electricity supply, especially when weather-dependent generation is insufficient to meet demand or when the electricity market requires fast balancing power.
EPV Energy’s energy production companies have joined the Energy Efficiency Agreement for the period 2026–2035. Vaasan Voima, Seinäjoen Voima and Tornion Voima commit, through the continuation of the agreement, to improving the energy efficiency of their operations by the end of 2035.
The installation work for EPV Energy’s first industrial-scale solar park was completed last August. A newly released video offers a closer look at the various stages involved in constructing one of Finland’s largest solar parks.
The project, which will be completed at the end of 2025, will produce approximately 45 GWh of heat per year, which corresponds to 8–9 percent of Seinäjoki’s district heating needs. EPV Energy’s subsidiary Seinäjoen Voima will reduce its annual CO2 emissions by up to 15,000 tons through the project.
EPV’s solar park in Heinineva, Lapua, began electricity production with the first panel blocks in late April. Commercial production at Heinineva will start in early 2026.
The new Laajametsä-Finne 1 and 2 power lines will support the electricity supply to the GigaVaasa industrial area in the future. Developing the area’s electricity transmission is one of EPV Alueverkko’s most important projects of the year.
Zero deviations and only five observations underline Vaasan Voima’s nearly perfect audit result. Vaasan Voima received praise in the external audit for, among other things, considering energy efficiency in production development.
