Electricity transmission to a large battery technology hub
EPV is developing electricity transmission for a large battery technology hub in Vaasa
As a significant electricity transmitter in Finland, EPV Alueverkko is also involved in a project planning a large battery technology hub in Laajametsä, Vaasa. The planned construction of a significant consumption hub in the area has initiated measures at EPV to ensure services in accordance with the required electrical connections.
According to the information received for the planning basis, the area will need a lot of electrical power, and the criterion is strong (N-1) fault tolerance, meaning the system must withstand common single faults in the network and the disconnection of a faulty component without causing interruptions to production or consumption and without secondary faults.
EPV has started developing a phased progression model. Initially, a 110 kV double line and the Laajametsä substation will be built in the area, where the first operators can connect and access the required electrical power. In the second and third phases, electricity transmission will be expanded as the area grows. Space and routes for the future overall area’s electricity transmission have already been reserved.
